Blues Recycled Clothing opens in Richmond, selling 300 pairs of vintage Levi’s
1998
Blues changes name to Need Supply Co.
1999
Need Supply Co. relocates store, offices, and warehouse to Carytown, in Richmond, VA
2008
Need Supply Co. launches e-commerce site and begins shipping globally
Totokaelo founded in Seattle, WA. Totokaelo was the first-to-market in the American ‘young luxury’ movement, offering luxury goods in a warm, upbeat environment.
2008-2013
Need Supply Co. sales grow 640%, driven by e-commerce product sales and content curation
2010
Need Supply Co. moves retail store and offices to 3100 W. Cary Street, staying within Richmond’s Carytown shopping district
Totokaelo launched e-commerce site
2012
Totokaelo relocated to new, expanded store in Seattle. 12k sq. ft. location in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Launched Art/Object division.
2013
Totokaelo launched Menswear division.
2015 - January
Totokaelo opens New York office
2015 - Fall
Totokaelo opens 8,400 sq. ft. SoHo store at 54 Crosby Street
2016
Herschel Capital Corp. (HCC) acquires minority ownership in Need Supply Co.
Need Supply Co. launches Life Division and renovates flagship retail store in Richmond, VA.
2016 - September
Herschel Capital Corp. (HCC) purchases Totokaelo. Common platform of operations established, sharing select staff across brands.
2017
Need Supply Co. moves into a 60k sq. ft. fulfillment center in Sandston, VA. Additional Common Platform teams established for finance, merchandising, and fulfillment.
2017 - Fall
Totokaelo NY residency opens in the Germania Bank building at 190 Bowery. Crosby St. store begins demolition for renovation.
2018 - Fall
Need Supply Co. and Totokaelo parent companies merge to form NSTO. All Richmond, VA offices centralized into new headquarters. Totokaelo residency at 190 Bowery ends.
2018 - Dec
NSTO global headquarters opens in Richmond, VA
2019
Totokaelo returns to SoHo, at 61 Crosby Street (while renovation continues at 54 Crosby).
